Indian and South Korean Coast Guards sign MoU

CHENNAI: The Coast Guards of India and South Korea signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on maritime cooperation in New Delhi on Monday.

Cooperation to prevent piracy

Commissioner-General of the South Korean Coast Guard Lee Seung Jae and Indian Coast Guard Director-General Prabhakaran Paleri signed the MoU, which aims at cooperation in preventing piracy, armed robbery, trafficking in arms, smuggling and illegal migration at sea and in combating marine pollution. Both Coast Guards conducted a joint exercise at Pusan, South Korea, in November 2005, says a release.
