BANGALORE:
A 21-year-old girl jumped off the 21st floor of the Public Utility Building on Mahatma Gandhi Road on Sunday and died.
The police gave her name as Shwetha Daliya, a native of New Delhi and a student of HOSMAT College of Physiotherapy here. She was residing with her relatives in Indira Nagar.
According to the police, Shwetha's body was found on the premises of a hotel in the podium block of the Public Utility Building around 9.15 a.m. on Sunday by a security guard of the hotel.
The police, who initially suspected it to be murder, searched the 24-storeyed Public Utility Building and found a handbag on the 21st floor. The bag contained two notes. In one of them, Shwetha mentioned that she was ending her life as she feared that she might not score good marks in the examination, the police said.
In the other note, she has said that her brother, whose address and telephone number she has mentioned, should be informed of her death, the police said.
After autopsy at the Bowring Hospital on Monday, the police handed over the body to her relatives. The Ashok Nagar police have registered a case.
