University announces cultural policy
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
Bangalore University has come up with a cultural policy to uphold Indian cultural values and bring a strong bond of national integration among its students. The policy was made public by outgoing Vice-Chancellor M.S. Thimmappa here on Monday.
According to Dr. Thimmappa, Rs. 10 would be collected annually from every undergraduate and postgraduate student of colleges affiliated to the university to raise fund for cultural activities.
He said the "Cultural Policy 2006" not only envisaged the fitness of the young and talented pool of students but would also polish their skills and help them achieve excellence in their respective fields.
Dr. Thimmappa said colleges should feel that university cultural activities were part of their academic programme and involve themselves actively in organising such events. It allowed select participants to take part in the South India Inter-University Youth Festival and thereafter at the national level Youth Festival, he said and added that a one-time cash prize would be awarded to the winners of the two competitions.
