487 complaints received at BMP meetings

Most complaints pertained to water supply and sewerage problems


  • The meetings were held at 11 centres simultaneously
  • Jayanagar centre received the highest number of complaints
  • Third round of redressal meetings to be held on Wednesday

    BANGALORE: As many as 487 complaints were received at the second round of the grievance-redressal meetings conducted by the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) here on Monday.

    According to a press release, most complaints pertained to water supply and sewerage problems. Complaints regarding building bylaw violations, poor quality asphalting of roads, flooding of low-lying areas during rain, irregular garbage clearance, delay in distribution of title deeds, excessive billing, haphazard removal of silt from drains, debris left on roadsides, problems relating to food and civil supplies and traffic were common at all the 11 centres where the meetings were held simultaneously.

    Highest number

    Of the 487 complaints submitted at the centres, the Jayanagar centre recorded the highest number of complaints (107) and the Shivaji Nagar centre the lowest (20).

    While 43 complaints were received at the Rajajinagar centre, 53 were received at the Gayatri Nagar centre, 50 at the Gandhi Nagar centre, 36 at the Binnypet centre, 41 at the Malleswaram centre, 51 at the Hanumanth Nagar centre, 46 at the Basavanagudi centre, 67 at the Banaswadi centre and 29 at the Shanti Nagar centre.

    Apart from officials from various BMP departments, MLAs, corporators, officials from Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Bangalore Electricity Supply Company, Bangalore Development Authority, Karnataka State Slum Clearance Board and the Department of Food and Civil Supplies were present at the meetings.

    The third round of redressal meetings will be held on Wednesday from 9 a.m. at the offices of the Assistant Revenue Officers at Mahalakshmipuram, Sanjay Nagar, J.J.R. Nagar, Hombegowda Nagar, Chandra Layout, Jayamahal, K.G. Halli, Koramangala, Bharati Nagar and Sri Ramamandir wards.
