Film on blood donation

`Colour of Life,' a one-minute film directed by Vinod Sukumaran was one among the 12 films short-listed from various Commonwealth countries for the final round of the Common Wealth Vision Awards 2005.

The film, based on the theme `health and vitality,' was screened at the British Library here on Tuesday for members as part of the Commonwealth Day celebrations. The film demonstrates how donating blood and providing medical support can change the lives of people across the world.

"The programme is aimed at spreading awareness among the public about our country's pre-eminent role among the Commonwealth nations," said a library official. The library also screened the other short-listed films, all of one-minute duration.

This is the first time the British Library in association with the Association of British Scholars is celebrating Commonwealth Day in the State.

The daylong programme winded up with a talk by C.R. Soman, chairman, Health Action by People, on the topic.
