The Collectorate gate has seen any number of agitations. But a recent one attracted the attention of people because of the novelty of the means adopted by the agitators. The potters, who were trying to air their woes, chose a unique method to press for their demands. It was by no other means but by making pots. The agitation, organised by the Velala Service Society, saw 12 potter's wheels spinning in front of the Collectorate. The workers turned the wheels and churned out pots in minutes. Passers-by crowded around the agitators to witness the event. The potters were raising various demands, including protection of their traditional vocation.
