MALAPPURAM: As many as 81,519 students in Malappuram district will take the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations beginning on Wednesday. As many as 71,316 of them will be school-going students, and 10,203 will appear for the examination in the old scheme. Education Department authorities said that all arrangements were made for the smooth conduct of the examination. Over 6,000 invigilators were appointed for the examination duty in 228 centres spread across the educational districts of Tirur, Malappuram and Wandoor. In Malappuram-Wandoor educational district, 40,082 students will take the examination at 117 centres and four sub-centres. While 35,778 students will write the examination in the new scheme, 4,304 will appear for the old scheme. In Malappuram-Wandoor educational district, the maximum number of candidates appearing the examination is from P.P.M. High School, Kottukara, with 968 students. K.H.M. High School, Alathiyoor, will top in Tirur educational district with 1,338 students appearing for the examination. S.S.M. High School, Theyyalingal, will have 1,194 students for the examination. As many as 1,089 students will take the examination at T.P.T.M.Y. High School, Cheroor. As many as 41,437 students will appear for the examination at 98 centres and nine sub-centres in Tirur educational district. While 35,538 of them will be school-going, 5,899 will be from the old scheme. Girls will out number boys in taking the examinations. As many as 17,480 boys and 18,058 girls will write the examination in Tirur educational district. Of the 2,019 SC/ST students taking the examinations, 1,016 will be boys and 1,003 girls. There will be 3,009 invigilators, including 109 chief superintendents and 139 deputy superintendents in Tirur educational district. As many number of invigilators will be on duty in Malappuram-Wandoor district too.
