BANGALORE: MICO (Adugodi) beat Leo Hockey Club 5-1 and MEG (Boys) pounded Naveen Hockey Club 8-0 in the last two matches of the first phase of the Travancore Cup hockey tournament here on Tuesday. In the first match, MICO started off with a first minute goal from Subramani who also slotted the last goal in the 60th minute. In the interim Kalappa (8th), Prakash Monappa (40th) and Jeeny (54th) also slotted home goals for MICO. Leo's sole scorer was Joseph (35th). The second fixture saw Bopanna score a treble (19th, 29th & 52nd). Nagalingaswamy (3rd off a penalty corner), Arun (38th and 41st), Vinayak (45th) and Uthappa were the other scorers for MICO.
Mugbasth, Lazarus shine
Murgesh Mugbasth (113) and Steve Lazarus (102 n.o.) set up Corporation Bank's 228-run victory over South Western Railway Institute (SWRI) in a KSCA Group II, second division league match here recently. Corporation Bank posted 308 and bundled out SWRI for 80 with T. Vinay grabbing four wickets. The scores: Group II: Second division: Corporation Bank 308 in 50 overs (Murgesh Mugbasth 113, Steve Lazarus 102 n.o.) bt SWRI 80 in 15.5 overs (T. Vinay four for 22). BEML 183 for nine in 50 overs (Nanda Kumar 44) lost to SBI 187 for three in 31.2 overs (Ravinandan Roy 70, Maruthi Shanbal 61n.o., Bhaskar 43). ISAC Cricket Club 245 in 48.3 overs (Manu Pasha 69, Amit 50, Chitti Babu four for 32) lost to BEL Sports Club 246 for seven in 42.4 overs (Sudhakar 88). Secretariat CC 155 in 34.2 overs (Charan five for 35) lost to ASC Centre 156 for no loss in 22.2 overs (Pramod 76 n.o., Nazim 74 n.o.). First division: MICO SC 107 in 27.5 overs (Srinath four for 24, T.K. Ananth four for 39) lost to KSFSB 111 for one in 21 overs (Jayakumar 53). Syndicate Bank 228 in 52.5 overs (Ragotham Navali 81) drew with AGORC 90 for four in 31 overs.
NCA chess camps

State body-building team
A 12-member team will represent Karnataka in the National body building championship at Darjeeling from March 16 to 20. The team: Preetham Chougule, Anil Kilekar, Manthesh, Rudra Mani, Riaz, Nagaraj, Kishore Naik, Gokul Das, Durga Rao, Giri, Pratap and Arun.
