Sale of LAWCET forms

HYDERABAD: LAWCET-2006 application forms for both three-year and five-year courses are being sold at e-Seva centres in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Anantapur, Warangal, Tirupati, Guntur and the Twin Cities. The LAWCET-2006 examination is scheduled for June 3. Last date for sale of applications, each costing Rs. 250, is April 15.— Special Correspondent

BCs against fee hike HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Backward Classes Welfare Association has threatened to launch an agitation if engineering college fees were increased to Rs. 35,000 a year from Rs. 22,000.

In a statement here on Tuesday, R. Krishnaiah, president, said if the fee hike would deprive poor and middle class students of engineering studies as they were already facing difficulties in remitting the amounts. — Special Correspondent

CIMAP training

HYDERABAD: The Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP), Boduppal, near here will conduct a three-day training programme from March 16 on "agri business opportunities on important medicinal and aromatic plants". It will be held at the resource centre.

Three children drowned in tank

MADANAPALLE: Three children -- J. Harishkumar Reddy (13) G. Aruna (11) and V. Silpa (8) of Kothapalle of Valmikipuram were drowned in a tank Kothacheruvu nearby Narayanapalle after they got into it on Monday. They were rearing sheep. .— Correspondent

UPSC list out

HYDERABAD: The Union Public Service Commission has announced the roll numbers of candidates who have qualified for interview on the basis of the results of the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2005 for appointment to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and other Central Services Group `A' and Group `B'. The Commission has decided to commence the personality test of the qualified candidates from April 3. The results are displayed at the office of Press Information Bureau, behind Hotel Ayodhya, Lakdi-ka-pool, and also on the website http://pib.nic.in. - Staff Reporter

Talks postponed

HYDERABAD: Discussions between Singareni Collieries workers' organisations and the management with Labour Department officials on Tuesday, in the light of the proposed strike, were postponed to March 20, after discussing 14 demands. ELURU: The city police on Tuesday arrested a self-styled naxalite Merla Nagarjuna of Naguladevulapadu in Pedavegi mandal of West Godavari district. According to Superintendent of Police M. GUNTUR: The Guntur district police confiscated three idols of Bhoodevi, Lord Rama and Lakshmana estimated to be 100 years old in the city on Tuesday. GAIL veterinary camp

Rajahmundry: The GAIL (India) conducted another veterinary camp, fifth in row, in Allavaram of Konaseema area on Monday. Narendra Kumar, deputy general manager of GAIL, who inaugurated the camp, said their company, as part of Corporate Social Responsibility, was conducting these veterinary camps through Godavari Association of Embryo Transfer in Cattle, Rajahmundry.

187 grievances received

Srikakulam: More than 50 women from Hayathinagar in the town gave a complaint to the authorities at the grievances cell at the collectorate on Monday, alleging that ration articles were not being supplied at the FP shops. In all 187 grievances were received by the authorities.

Cases booked against three youths

Srikakulam: Cases of harassment were booked against three youths -- B.Kiran and A.Bhaskara Reddy of Hayathinagar and Venkatesh of Prakashnagar colony in the town -- on Tuesday. According to Superintendent of Police, A.S.Gurappa, reports of eve-teasing were being received from Srikakulam, Narasannapeta, Kasibugga and Tekkali, Mr.Gurappa said, exhorting girls to report such incidents to the nearest police station or crime stopper or police control room. The name of the complainant would not be revealed, he said, asserting that all cases of eve-teasing would be monitored by him personally. - Special Correspondent
