Collector's night halt

Staff Reporter

GUNTUR: District Collector G. Jayalakshmi toured Macherla and Veldurthi mandals on Wednesday and chose to spend a night at Sivalingapuram in Veldurthi mandal. This was in accordance to a directive given by the Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to district Collectors to spend a night in the rural areas to get the first hand information on people's problems. Ms. Jayalakshmi chose the tribal-dominated Chenchu village.

She had a review with the officials at Macherla on the integrated development of the tribal hamlets. The problems represented mostly pertained to lack of medical facilities, lack of doctors and ANMs.
