Air Kerala seeks exemptions

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Air Kerala — the airline floated by the Kerala Government for running low cost air services — has sought exemption from the Centre from three conditions that new airlines have to fulfil before being allowed to operate services.

The first board meeting of the airline held here on Wednesday with Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the chair sought exemption from the experience period of five years, fleet strength of 20 aircraft and monopoly of Air India in operating services to Gulf countries. The airline would start functioning after Centre's clearance.
