DEFT PROCEDURE: Students at the pottery-making workshop held in Chennai on Tuesday.
CHENNAI: Students got a hands-on experience in pottery making on the first day of a two-day workshop organised by the Government Museum on Tuesday. S. Devadoss of the Ceramic Department of the Government College of Fine Arts provided technical training, with students from the college helping him.
60 students take part
Sixty students from Oxford Matriculation, Presidency School, Muruga Dhanushkodi and Government Higher Secondary School, Peerkkankaranai, participated. A. Prema Deepa Rani, Curator, Contemporary Arts Section of the Museum, said that some adults who were interested in pottery making also participated. The workshop will continue on Wednesday too, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The idea was to introduce students in Chennai to the art of pottery making, she said. The Government College of Fine Arts principal, G. Chandrasekaran, and the Director of Museums, M.A. Siddique, were present.
