Bail out tomato ryots, says CPI

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The CPI State Council has sought immediate intervention of the Agricultural Market Committees to purchase tomato and ensure remunerative price to farmers in Rayalaseema districts.

K. Narayana, party secretary, in a letter to Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Wednesday said the sale of tomato by the committees would ensure suitable price to consumers also.

The letter referred to the suicide by a tomato farmer Kesava Redy, 30, of Ramireddygaripalli in Chittoor district on March 13.
