Former naxal axed to death

Staff Reporter

KARIMNAGAR: Naxalties belonging to CPI(Maoist) have axed to death a former naxalite of Nizamabad district in the dense forests of Marrimadla village of Konaraopeta mandal on Wednesday suspecting him to be a home guard and police informer. Police sources said that the naxalites caught hold of Mallothu Ratan (35), who hailed from Pandimadugu village of Sirikonda mandal in Nizamabad district, at Seemanpalli village in Sirikonda mandal on Tuesday night and thrashed him severely.

They opened fire with short weapons but he escaped. The naxalites caught him and took him into the forests of Marrimadla and axed him to death after torturing him.

Kamareddy area Maoist committee secretary Srinu left a note at the site stating that they had killed Ratan because he was acting as a police informer and working as a home guard.

Ten years ago the deceased worked as dalam member in Sircilla region for two years.

He surrendered and again joined the dalam during the peace talks and worked for about three months before surrendering last year due to ill health.
