Tirupur: Three head constables and a Grade I constable attached to the Central Crime Bureau (CCB) were placed under suspension on Wednesday following a sting operation that exposed the constables accepting bribe from a businessman.
Preliminary report
The Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore District, P. C. Thenmozhi, ordered their suspension based on the preliminary inquiry report submitted by the Assistant Superintendent of Police, Tirupur,V. Balakrishnan. Head Constables A. Gopu, B. Vijaymohan and G.K. Shanmugam and Constable P. Nagendira Babu were suspended for allegedly accepting bribe and later returned the money.
Allegation
On Tuesday, N. Subramaniam of Tirupur released a video footage that exposed the policemen to the media. Mr. Subramaniam alleged that the policemen received bribe of Rs. 15,000 after registering a case against a businessman for not arresting him in a cheating case.
Transferred
According to sources, Inspector of CCB, Nehru, has been transferred and kept in a waiting list.
