IOC to set up 19 LPG stations in State

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Oil Corporation has announced a project to set up 19 LPG stations in Kerala. IOC Deputy General Manager and State-level coordinator B. Ashok said Kerala would become the first State in the country with a network of auto LPG filling stations to cater to consumers.

Addressing a meeting of the Public Relations Society of India, he said IOC had finalised plans to introduce pumps for its branded high performance diesel, Xtramile, in four KSRTC depots and in fishing villages.

Mr.Ashok said IOC was actively involved in the development of Kisan Seva Kendras targeting the needs of rural consumers. He said the condom vending machines set up in association with Hindustan Latex Limited at retail stations in Tamil Nadu and Kerala had also become a successful venture.

Mr.Ashok claimed that IOC had managed to curb the misuse of subsidised products such as LPG and kerosene.

He said the introduction of LPG for outboard fishing boats had brought down the operational cost for fishing craft.

Mr.Ashok said the subsidies on products such as LPG and kerosene were draining the bottomline of oil companies.

IOC Deputy General Manager S.Muthumohan and Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, R. Chidambaram, PRSI secretary V.V.Vinod and vice-chairman P. Narayanan also addressed the meeting.
