Letters to the Editor
The editorial "Better abandoned than revised" (March 16) has aptly addressed the issues involved in the MPLADS scam. The scheme is a drain on the exchequer. It should be given a quick and unsung burial as unscrupulous legislators use it as a source of enriching themselves.
R.M. Manoharan,
* * * The parliamentary committee that went into the scam, instead of addressing the malady, has protected fellow MPs. The misuse of MPLADS funds is glaring. Yet MPs resist the scrapping of the scheme.
Dantu Surya Rao,
* * * The committee has recommended that the Government lay down guidelines for those conducting sting operations. Can anyone proposing to carry out a sting operation give advance notice? Any regulation will only be a means for those in power to continue abusing it.
S. Jagadish,
