Letters to the Editor
By maintaining communal harmony, the people of Varanasi have sent a clear message that they cannot be provoked and divided on the basis of religion. BJP leader L.K. Advani should take the cue and desist from launching the proposed rath yatra.
G. Ramachandran,
* * * Mr. Advani is at his favourite pastime again. His earlier yatras resulted in disasters. The country witnessed the destruction of the Babri mosque followed by large-scale communal riots. The BJP's motive is clear raising the fundamentalist bogey.
Cletus Dias,
* * * Mr. Advani's proposed yatra has been condemned even before it has taken off as regressive, divisive, and likely to lead to violence. Let liberal Muslims too organise yatras and rallies to unreservedly condemn terrorism indulged in by a minuscule section of their community.
C.P. Jos & S. Mohan,
* * * Mr. Advani is certainly not going to carry guns and bombs like jihadis. It is unnecessary to create panic by projecting the yet-to-be-launched yatra as a conspiracy to instigate violence. Can the States concerned not ensure the smooth conduct of a yatra?
S. Kannaki Nathan,
