Letters to the Editor
The media hype over IIM placements seems to have upset quite a few, resulting in scornful reactions. These offers are not made to fresh graduates. Many who are admitted to IIMs have 5-8 years of work experience. No one needs to teach the multi-nationals the value of money; they certainly do not offer even a dime more than what the meritorious candidates are worth. The resentment to the fabulous offers is largely borne out of converting overseas salaries to Indian currency. Let us not forget that a Pav Bhaji that costs Rs.30 in Mumbai costs $3, that is, about Rs.150 in New York!
