NEW DELHI: A single girl child seeking admission to the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghathan will get special consideration if she fails to make it due to poor showing in the rank list of the entrance examination; provided she gets the minimum marks. Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh has taken a decision to this effect in his capacity as KVS Chairman. According to a Ministry release, single girl children who do not qualify for admission from Class VI onwards based on their rank in the admission test/qualifying examination but who obtain the minimum qualifying marks will be admitted in KVsup to a maximum of two girls per class above the strength. Besides, if there are single girl children left among the unsuccessful applicants for Class I after filling up all seats, two single girl children will be admitted over the sanctioned intake in each section of Class I. Over 10,300 single girl children have benefited from the Government's decision to provide fee waiver to such children from Classes VI to XII.
