High Court restrains Tamil magazine
Justice M. Chockalingam granted the interim injunction on a civil suit, which sought Rs. 2 crore damages from the magazine, on the ground that the magazine had published derogatory news articles and caricatures in its issues. The order read: "The court is of the considered opinion that from the materials available, a prima facie case is made out for granting temporary injunction restraining the respondents from publishing in its future publications articles, caricatures, news items and cartoons that are defamatory or derogatory in nature in Nakheeran or in any of its special editions or any publications of the respondents till the disposal of the civil suit preferred by Ms. Jayalalithaa and Ms. Sasikalaa." According to a release, the service IC-802 will leave Chennai on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 9-10 p.m. and reach Delhi at 11-40 p.m. On other days, the service IC-802 will leave Chennai at 9-55 p.m. and reach Delhi at 25 minutes past midnight. The service (IC-429) will leave Delhi on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 11-30 a.m. and arrive Chennai at 2 p.m. On Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, the flight will leave Delhi at 12-15 p.m. and arrive Chennai at 2-45 p.m. The service (IC-801) will leave Delhi on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 6 p.m. and arrive Chennai at 8-30 p.m. On Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, the flight will leave Delhi at 6-45 p.m. and arrive Chennai at 9-15 p.m. The service (IC-540) will leave Delhi on Wednesdays and Sundays at 7-30 p.m. and arrive Chennai at 10 p.m. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the service will leave Delhi at 8 p.m. and arrive Chennai at 10-30 p.m. Special Correspondent

Six get life term in murder case
While Vijay Kumar was killed on the spot, Martin was injured severely. The judge Vanangaamudi sentenced all the six accused to life-term imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 3,000 each on them.
One held for murder
The police said that a gang murdered Kasi Murugan (50) of Melanaththam near Esakkiamman temple on A.R. Line Road when he was returning home last night. They launched an intensive manhunt and nabbed Muthu alias Sorimuthu, a mercenary from Tirunelveli within 30 minutes. Based on the information provided by him, they were looking for Chinna Esakki of Puthukkudi, Mani of Seythunganallur, Kumar of Tirunelveli and Sivasamy of Melanaththam. While Chinna Esakki surrendered before a Sivagiri court, Mani surrendered before a Kovilpatti court on Thursday. Hunt is on to nab Kumar and Sivasamy.

Its district president S. Balu said the authorities should set up two more bill collection counters for cell phone users one at Customer Service Centre in the telephone exchange and another at GM's office to clear the rush of customers. About 40 cell phone towers should be established to strengthen the signal in the district and replace outdated electronic switches at Chidambara Nagar and Puthiamputhur exchanges. The authorities should distribute protective gears to linemen and establish toolboxes at Tiruchendur and Srivaikundam.

Speakers stressed the significance of the consumer movement. District Revenue Officer P. Senthilkumar distributed prizes to students who had won in several competitions held as part of observance of the day. The secretary of the Tamil Nadu Consumer Protection Council, S. Pushpavanam, was among those who spoke.
Temple renovation
The works included renovation of the Rajagopuram and vimanas of the sanctum sanctorum and other deities, strengthening of the sprawling terrace with tiles, reinforcing of mandapams and the compound. The Fit Person, V. Vetrichelvan, said that the temple car would be renovated at a cost of Rs. five lakhs sanctioned by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Board.
