Non-semester pattern for I year B.E/B.Tech

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: In view of the probable delay in engineering college admissions due to the stand-off on the common entrance test, the Anna University has decided to follow the non-semester pattern of examination in all its affiliated colleges for first year engineering students for the next academic year.

"The resolution for following the annual pattern of examinations will be moved in the university's Academic Council soon and will be followed in all colleges," Vice-Chancellor D. Viswanathan told reporters here on Thursday.

Despite the uncertainty over admissions, not many engineering college seats were likely to remain vacant this year , he added.

The AICTE chairman had been appraised of the recent developments concerning Deemed Universities (DU) in the State and the council was awaiting the outcome of a litigation filed by DU managements before it made its stand on the issue clear, Dr. Viswanathan said.
