The events conducted in sub-junior, junior, senior and open categories saw participation of more than 350 athletes from seven districts Tiruchi, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Pudukottai and Perambalur. Former international high jumper, Nallusamy Annavi, who gave prizes to the winners, said, "There is a need to encourage these athletes and this is a step in the right direction."
