VIJAYAWADA: Fortune Murali Park, a Welcomgroup hotel, was formally opened to the public here on Thursday. Muthavarapu Muralikrishna, head of the Swarna Group of companies, said at a press conference that the hotel was in the operation mode for several days serving food to customers who strayed into the hotel's 24-hour multi-cuisine restaurant.
The renovation of the erstwhile Kandhari Hotel took three years. The windows had to be redone twice to make them sound-proof. Polished granite had to be used for the ledges outside the windows so as to prevent birds from perching on them and litter them with droppings.
70 rooms
Asked about the equity participation, he said Rs. 12 crores had been spent so far. Financial experts of the group would make a decision in due course. General Manager Mohammed Shoeb said the business class hotel being managed and marketed by the Fortune Park Hotels Ltd. was a subsidiary of ITC Ltd. The hotel had 70 rooms, including 44 standard rooms, 18 Fortune Club rooms, six junior suites and Fortune executive and presidential suites. All the rooms had data ports, electronic safes, tea/coffee makers, hairdryers, weighing scales, well-stocked mini bars and telephones with voice-mail facilities. The hotel had two restaurants - Zodiac was a multi-cuisine restaurant that served food round-the-clock and The Oriental Pavilion specialised in Chinese and Thai cuisine. Mr. Shoeb said that the hotel offered the best residential and non-residential banquet and conferencing facilities. The Grand Banquet Hall was huge with a floor area of 6,200 square feet. The Crystal Ball Room had a floor area of 4,200 square feet and three conference rooms Senate I, II and III of 750 square feet each. Facilities like 24-hour room service, travel desk, in-house laundry, babysitting, business centre, doctor on call and shopping area are offered.
