THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here on Thursday that United Democratic Front (UDF) had not considered admission of any new party into the Front. Replying to questions from presspersons on an electoral understanding with the Democratic Indira Congress(Karunakaran), the Chief Minister said he was not the last word on entry of anyone into the Congress. "The Congress is a joint family. All are welcome into the party." The resolution adopted at the Kochi conference that those coming into the party should recognise the leadership of the party stood, he said. The Chief Minister said seat-sharing talks in the UDF were going on as per the schedule. If any new factor like the DIC(K) came in, that could be discussed then. The UDF was confident of fighting the election alone. He said it was for the Congress and the UDF to decide who should be its candidate for the post of Chief Minister. The Front was not banking on the weaknesses of the CPI (M), but on its own strength. He said that the One Year Action Plan of the Government was showing good progress. He said that Nivedita P. Haran would be posted as Land Revenue Commission in place of Alphons Kannanthanam who had quit the service. P. K. Mohanti would be posted as Excise Commissioner.
