KARIMNAGAR: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy will take part in the Rajiv palle baata programme in the naxalite-infested Manthani division on March 18. He will also participate in other developmental programmes in the interior villages of the region.

Speaking to newsmen here on Thursday, Government Whip and Manthani legislator D. Sridhar said that the Chief Minister would arrive at the interior Mahamutharam mandal headquarters on March 18 morning and participate in palle bataa programme in the village. He would proceed to Kataram covering the forest dominated Yamanpalli, Kurlakunta, Madaram and Chintakhani villages. He would also address the gathering at Kataram mandal headquarters.

To unveil statue

Dr. Reddy would also visit Dhanwada of Kataram mandal and interact with villagers besides unveiling the statue of Indira Gandhi in the village. He would also interact with people at Gangaram stage and launch the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in Koyyur village by inaugurating desilting works of Boggulavagu tank.

Later, he would proceed to Manthani by helicopter where he would inaugurate a milk-chilling centre and participate in palle bataa programme in Nagaram, Chillapalle, Dubbapalle, Chandapur of Kamanpur mandals. He would visit the NTPC guesthouse at Godavarikhani where he would review the developmental works with officials and legislators. This is the first time that the Chief Minister would be visiting naxalite-affected villages to participate in developmental works. In all about 28 developmental works would be grounded on Saturday.

Double road

Dr. Reddy would also lay the foundation stone for the Godavarikhani-Bhupalapalli double road, and another stone for restoration of the age-old irrigation tanks such as Teegalavagu, Gudepucheruvu. He would also lay foundation stones for the electric sub-stations in Gangaram and Venkatapur villages.

In Mahamutharam, the Chief Minister would lay foundation stone for the construction of MRO office and police station buildings and also IKP building and Kasturba residential school. He would also lay foundation stones for several roads in the interior areas.
