NCC cadets meet Additional Director

NEW DELHI: A National Cadets Corps delegation bound for Bangladesh called on NCC Additional Director Pravesh Kumar at the NCC headquarters here on Thursday.

According to an NCC release, the delegation comprising one officer and 11 cadets will be in Bangladesh from March 20 to 31.

The cadets will participate in the National Independence Day Parade of Bangladesh and also visit educational and historical places.

Interim dividend presented

NEW DELHI: Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Praful Patel was presented a cheque for Rs.40 crores as interim dividend for 2005-2006 by Airports Authority of India (AAI) Chairman K. Ramalingam here earlier this week.

According to an AAI release, the Authority has been consistently making profits since its formation on April 1, 1995.

During the half year ended September 2005, AAI earned a revenue of Rs.1,519 crores and profit after tax of Rs.201crores.

Record premium income by LIC North Zone

NEW DELHI: The North Zone of the Life Insurance Corporation of India made history on March 11 by surpassing its annual composite first premium income target for the current fiscal 2005-2006.

According to an LIC release, this is the first time in the history of the Corporation that any zone has surpassed its annual budget in the first fortnight of March.

The zone's composite first premium target for the current fiscal was Rs.2,730 crores.

It has already completed Rs.2,735 crores and also performed impressively in sale of policies.

Focus on treatment of heart ailments

NEW DELHI: Metro Hospitals and Delhi Medical Association (DMA) will jointly organise a conference at India Habitat Centre here this Sunday to focus attention on recent trends in the treatment of heart diseases and respiratory problems.

Dr. B.C.Roy and Dr. Purshotam Lal will deliver a lecture on recent advances in interventional cardiology, while DMA president Dr. K. K. Aggarwal will give an update on heart and lung diseases.

Metro Centre for Respiratory Diseases director Dr. Deepak Talwar will throw light on the latest developments in diagnostic bronchoscopy, while Metro Heart Institute director Dr. J. C. Mohan will talk about acute aortic syndrome.
