Special Correspondent

Authorities have identified 35 centres as prone to examination malpractice

MYSORE: More than 44,000 students in the district appeared for the SSLC examination that commenced on Thursday all over the State.

There are 123 centres in all and 35,386 students are freshers and the rest are repeaters. District authorities have identified 35 centres as prone to examination malpractice and have constituted vigilance squad headed by the Deputy Commissioner, the CEO of the Mysore Zilla Panchayat, the DDPI, DIET and heads of educational institutions.

Visually handicapped and physically challenged persons were provided with scribes to write the answers. The examination centres follow a similar seating pattern with 24 benches in each room.

Parents anxious

Students were seen making last-minute preparations at various centres. Examination fever seemed to have affected parents too who were more anxious than their children and accompanied them to the examination centre to provide moral strength.

Prohibitory orders have been clamped around 100 metres of the examination centres from Thursday till March 23 when the examinations conclude. Valuation of answerpapers is expected to begin in the last week of March.
