MYSORE: Mysore District Employment Officer S.J. Hemachandra said private as well as public enterprises are liable for prosecution if they resort to direct recruitment without considering the list of candidates registered with the Employment Exchange. Speaking at an interaction programme organised by Mysore District Journalists' Association (MDJA) in Mysore on Thursday, Mr. Hemachandra said private and public sector companies should bring to the notice of employment exchange vacancies in their firms and consider the list provided by the exchange for recruitment to fill up the vacancies. Citing the provisions of Section 7 of the Compulsory Notification of Vacancies Act, Mr. Hemachandra said the companies flouting the norms are liable for penalty and prosecution. In the wake of a Supreme Court verdict in 1996, the State Government issued a circular making it mandatory for companies and government departments to inform the employment exchange and procure the list of eligible candidates. "Private companies or government departments should take into consideration the list of candidates seeking employment prospects through the exchange as well as those approaching them directly," he said. If the private and public enterprises adhere to the Government circular, fair play will be ensured and more Kannadigas will get employment opportunities in the private sector, he said. Mr. Hemachandra said the State Government will soon set up employment parks in Mysore and Bangalore to cater to job-seekers. Deputy Commissioners have been asked to prepare a plan of action for employment. He said the Government is planning study circles in various parts of the State to provide training to aspirants of various competitive examinations. "As of the now, private institutes are offering training to such candidates. The Government is considering a proposal to venture into the area. Training modules in the regard have already been prepared", he said. The Government will also start career libraries in different parts of the State at a cost of Rs 19 lakh. Career libraries will be set up in 15 districts across the State, he added.
