SHIMOGA: Director of Shantala Foundry S. Rudre Gowda said here on Thursday that the increasing population should not be considered as a bane but as a challenge in meeting the threats of poverty and unemployment. He was speaking as the chief guest at the valedictory function of a two-month training programme for women in Nobek Core Making (training in moulding), which was organised jointly by the Jana Shikshana Samsthe, Shantala Foundry and Sharada Foundry. He asked the young women entrepreneurs to think beyond the traditional methods to excel in a highly competitive industrial field. He asked the trainees to make use of the technical knowledge obtained during the training period. Environmentalist B.M. Kumaraswamy said women should also excel in other fields which were hitherto considered as male domains. He said it was laudable that women are trained in a highly technical field such as mould-making. Director of Jana Shikshana Samsthe Lakshminarayana Kashi, who presided over the function, said training in mould-making will help women trainees enter the industrial field with more confidence. Programme officer S.Y. Arunadevi welcomed the gathering. Ramesh proposed a vote of thanks.
