Three held on kidnap charge

CHENNAI:
The New Washermanpet police arrested three persons on Wednesday on charges of kidnapping girls from Royapuram area.
According to police, the youths Logu (22) and Bajaj Kumar (22) of Anna Nagar, Royapuram and Prakash Kumar (23) of Kargil Nagar allegedly kidnapped the girls, who were taken to Soonambedu village near Marakkanam.
Police said the girls had left for school on Monday but did not return home in the evening. Following this the parents checked with their relatives and friends and later filed a complaint with the police.
A special team was formed and they traced the boys and girls in the village, said E.Ma. Masanamuthu, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Washermanpet.
They were brought to the city. Subsequently, the boys were arrested and remanded to custody.
Cases have been registered against them under sections 366 (kidnapping) of IPC.
Police said, further investigation is on.
