Music World opened its first shop in T. Nagar in Chennai on Thursday.

With this branch the company has 16 shops in the city and the outfit in Pondy Bazaar is the 251st shop in the country.

Playback singer K.S. Chitra inaugurated the showroom and released a CD of songs sung by her. The CD is a tribute to M.S. Subbulakshmi.

Music lovers may recall that many years ago the same shop housed HMV records.

S.K. Chowdhury, chief executive officer of Music World, a retain chain with 14 showrooms in the country, said, "Our mission is to provide original and best quality music at affordable prices to consumers along with international level of service. At our customer request system, one can register a formal request detailing his choice and it can be sourced specially for the consumer."

If you really love music you may not mind spending a lot on it. For, at the end of it all you end up buying a lot of peace and tranquillity.
