Three killed in road accidents

TIRUCHI : In separate accidents, three persons were killed in road mishaps in various places in Tiruchi district in the last two days. The accidents occurred in Navalpattu, Thuvakudi and Vaiyampatti police station limits.

In the Vaiyampatti police station limit, when Rasu Gounder, 46, succumbed to injuries after he was knocked down by a speeding motorcycle at Gandhi Nagar near Vaiyampatti on Thursday.

A BHEL employee was killed after he was hit by a State Transport Corporation bus near Kamaraj Valaivu near Thuvakudi on Wednesday night. The deceased has been identified as Ramasundaram. The bus driver Balamurugan has been arrested. The Thuvakudi police are investigating.

Selvam (35) succumbed to injuries in a private hospital here in the wee hours on Thursday after being hit by a car at Burma Colony at Navalpattu on Wednesday. The Navalpattu police have registered a case, the police said.

Mettur level

The level in the Mettur dam stood at 113.92 feet on Thursday. The inflow was 2465 cusecs and the outflow 1000 cusecs. — Staff Reporter.
