Now register FIRs on PCs

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police Commissioner K.K. Paul on Thursday inaugurated the Common Integrated Police Application (CIPA) project at Mongolpuri in North-West Delhi which would enable registration of FIRs on computer. All the 17 police stations of North-West Delhi will be soon connected with the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) through the Wide Area Network. The Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited will provide the broadband facility for the linking of all the police stations with the DCP office. Thus, the DCP will be able to monitor and supervise registration of the FIRs and also investigations at any of the police stations. Apart from registration, CIPA will also help the police in investigations by collection and collation of detailed information about various cases. There will also be information about various listed organised gangs that will be updated from time to time.

The preparation for implementing the CIPA project in North-West Delhi had begun early this January. At least 240 personnel from the North-West Delhi police have been trained to handle the new system. In order to ensure that the new system is efficient, adequate numbers of computers have been installed at every police station.
