Letters to the Editor
This refers to the article "Farm suicides: look to helpline, land in jail" (March 16). Weird are government policies and officers in charge of disbursing loans who make it almost impossible for a farmer to get a few thousands of rupees but chase salaried persons with attractive schemes to buy a second car or house. Of what use are electronic white goods when the food we eat is going to disappear? We will be forced to import food from a developed country where farmers will be given subsidies to export it. The future of agrarian India is bleak, and generations next will face the hard reality of eating god knows what unless governments take some highly corrective measures.
