CAPE TOWN: South Africa's all-rounder Jacques Kallis took three wickets on Friday to leave Australia at 273 for six at tea on the second day of the first of three Tests. Kallis, who dismissed Australia captain Ricky Ponting in the first session for 74, had Damien Martyn (22) and Adam Gilchrist (12) caught by wicketkeeper Mark Boucher after lunch at the Newlands Stadium. Australia led at tea by 68 runs. Andrew Symonds who hit left-arm finger spinner Nicky Boje for three sixes and 21 runs in one over is not out on 41, while Shane Warne is yet to score. All-rounder Andrew Hall had Michael Hussey caught by Boucher for six.
Hayden's innings
Matthew Hayden reached an undefeated 78 by lunch, and eventually fell to a mistimed pull off Makhaya Ntini for 94 straight after lunch. South Africa captain Graeme Smith won the toss and his team was dismissed for 205 on the first day. Australia was 63 for one at the start of play on the second day. AP
