Hindalco unions hail Government initiative

KOCHI: The `Save Hindalco Trade Union Samithy,' an umbrella organisation of trade unions at the aluminium company Hindalco, formerly Indal, has welcomed the State Government's decision to constitute a committee to facilitate the reopening of the smelter unit of the company.

A press release from the Samithy here on Friday congratulated Chief Minister Oommen Chandy for the decision.

The committee, headed by Industries Secretary T. Balakrishna, will submit its report within two months, said the press release.
