KOLLAM: It was only because of the commitment of the United Democratic Front (UDF) Government towards the people that all hurdles in the implementation of the wage revision could be overcome, a statement by the Kerala Gazetted Officers Union said. A meeting of the district committee of the KGOU held on Friday termed the wage revision by the Oommen Chandy Government as the best ever implemented in the State. The meeting congratulated the Chief Minister for taking the decision on wage revision for employees. The Kerala NGO Association held a demonstration around the civil station complex here on Friday raising slogans congratulating the UDF Government for implementing the wage revision by crossing all hurdles. Addressing the demonstrators, State secretary of KGOU Cherasseril Krishna Kumar said that though the Chief Minister had categorically assured implementing the wage revision, the Left service organisations launched a politically motivated agitation against the Government. The agitation had vested interests in view of the coming Assembly elections, he alleged. The KGOU leader called upon the employees to see through the hypocrisy of such service organisations. If it had not been for the ensuing Assembly elections, the State Government would have declared more benefits for State employees, the KGOU leader said.
