`Propagandist literature lacks individual touch'

Staff Reporter

tv18tranand:

Thrissur: Literature is not an individual process when it embraces propaganda and religion, writer Anand has said.

Delivering a lecture on `Faith and literature' at the Kerala Sahitya Akademi here on Friday, Anand said he did not believe that the writer was a predator and the reader a prey.

"Authorities have always tried to control writers. At the same time, there has been a greater force that controlled writers: society. Intellectuals of every age claim they live in the most difficult period. This thought is natural.

In the previous century, writers were controlled by Communist regimes. Later, fascism and colonialism tried to restrict writers," he said.

Presiding over the function, Sahitya Akademi president Yusefali Kecheri said that Sanskrit was the national language considering its range.

K.C. Narayanan, writer, also spoke.
