Ban on animal sacrifice during festival

MYSORE: The district administration has clamped a ban on animal sacrifice during the Kappadi Jathra being held at K.R. Nagar.

The Deputy Commissioner has issued directives to the district police and the tahshildar of K.R. Nagar to implement the provisions of the Karnataka Prevention of Animal Sacrifices Act, 1959, and initiate legal action against those founding flouting the law. He has also instructed them to take measures to prevent animal sacrifice.

The Akhil Karnataka Prani Daya Sangha has appealed to devotees and the public to refrain from sacrificing animals in the name of religion and has called for a peaceful and non-violent way of celebrating festival.
