Pedda Reddy is an accused in the murder of two Congressmen

  • Pedda Reddy has been eluding the police since Jan. 18
  • Remanded to 14 days judicial custody
  • Reddy alleges that he is being implicated in the case

ANANTAPUR: Mandal Parishad President of Yellanur and TDP leader K. Pedda Reddy, a suspect in the murder of two Congress activists on February 2 and also a suspect in cases of conspiracy against two followers of J.C. Diwakar Reddy, surrendered before the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court here on Friday.

Brother of TDP leader and former Congress legislator K. Suryapratap Reddy, Pedda Reddy has been eluding the police since January 18, when nine persons were arrested in the conspiracy case against Bhogati Narayana Reddy and Kalluru Pratapa Reddy, two key followers of Panchayat Raj Minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy.

The nine persons were arrested at two separate places where they had waylaid to attack Narayana Reddy and Pratapa Reddy separately on January 18. The arrested persons told the police during the interrogation that the conspiracy was hatched by Pedda Reddy.

    The cases

Chief Judicial Magistrate Virupaksha Gowda ordered judicial custody to Pedda Reddy for 14 days. Pedda Reddy was also named a conspiracy suspect in the murder of two Congressmen, Bhaskar Reddy and Narayanaswamy of Vasapuram village in Yellanur mandal on February 2.

The two were allegedly hacked to death by their factional rivals near Kondugarikunta village in the mandal, when they were returning from Prime Minister's public meeting at Bandlapalli.

Meanwhile, speaking to mediapersons on the court premises Pedda Reddy said he had got nothing to do with the cases in which he was named a conspiracy suspect. He alleged that brother of J.C. Diwakar Reddy, J.C. Prabhakar Reddy, was planning to implicate him in the case due to political rivalry.
