WARANGAL: The Kakatiya University has embarked on a series of examination reforms such as introduction of photo scanned hall tickets, question bank for practical examinations among others, said Vice-Chancellor V. Gopal Reddy. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Prof. Reddy said with a view to curb the complaints of impersonation, it was decided to introduce photo scanned hall tickets, computerised attendance registers and single set of 36-page answer sheets avoiding issuance of additional answer sheets during the examinations.
New methods
Some two lakh students are appearing for the ongoing under graduate examinations. To conduct them in a more foolproof method and to avoid increasing complaints from the students, the university has come out with some reforms in conduct of examinations. For the MBA course, there will be bar coded answer books. Prof. Reddy said in addition to the supplementary examinations, there will be an advanced supplementary examination where any student can appear for the subject of his choice. "We found about 80 per cent of unsuccessful students are failing in single subject. Hence, the new system. It will only benefit the students in making up their academic year," he pointed out.
Practicals
Similarly, the Kakatiya University proposes to introduce objective type tests with OMR sheets for the entrance tests for admission into PG courses `KUCET' from the next academic year. "Efforts are being made to begin the academic year without any delay," he said. Referring to the practicals at under graduate level, Prof. Reddy explained that hitherto the colleges had the discrimination to set the questions for the examinations. It was found that some of the colleges were not conducting enough practicals and were selecting the same set of questions each passing year, the University has introduced a question bank from which the authorities would themselves select questions randomly. "Now the colleges have to conduct practicals as prescribed throughout the year," Prof. Reddy added.
