Dharna to resolve drinking water crisis

KOCHI: The Ernakulam District Residents Associations Apex Council on Friday staged a dharna in front of the Office of the Chief Engineer of Kerala Water Authority here demanding immediate steps to resolve drinking water problems in the city. Mayor Mercy Williams inaugurated the protest. Association representatives urged the authorities to speed up the work on various drinking water projects in the city.

Power supply to be disrupted

KOCHI: Power supply will be disrupted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday in the stretch from Thammanam Junction to Kootapadi Temple, Jubilee Road, Labour Colony Road, and Vadarath Road, the Vytilla office of the KSEB informed.

Rehabilitation programme

KOCHI: Janaseva Sisubhavan at Aluva will launch ``snehaveedu'' in various districts in the State aimed at rehabilitating children engaged in begging. The project will be launched in districts with the support of retired teachers and officials interested in participating in voluntary programmes.

Results published

KOCHI: The Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha has published the results of Pradhamik, Madhyama, Rashtrabhasha, and Praveshika examinations held in February. The pass per cent in each examination: Pradhamik - 95.5 per cent; Madhyama - 90 per cent; Rahstrabhasha - 92 per cent; Praveshika - 85.86 per cent. Results are available at all branches of the sabha.

Three arrested

KOCHI: The police arrested three persons in connection with a robbery at a doctor near Karikkamuri junction here on Friday night. Those taken into custody include Balasubramaniam, 27, of Pathanapuram; Maniyan, 46, of Nooranad and Ashish, 26, of Kochukadavantra.
