Sushanta Talukdar

GUWAHATI: A woman was killed and 10 persons were injured when suspected militants of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) triggered a blast near the railway track at the Bamunimaidan rail yard here on Saturday night.

A bomb went off around 7.30 p.m. in a tea-stall beside the track. Senior police and district administration officials rushed to the spot. The injured have been admitted to hospital.

Elections in all the four constituencies of Guwahati are scheduled for April 3.

PTI, UNI report

Senior Superintendent of Police Nitul Gogoi said the deceased woman was identified as S. Begum (50).

The rail lines have not been damaged but the blast temporarily disrupted services.
