THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: `Kerala Tourism Handbook', brought out by Tourism India Publications, has won the special award instituted by the Union Ministry for Tourism for tourism-related publications, the publishing company said in a press release here on Sunday. Kerala tourism won the most number of awards, including that for the best performing State for its achievements in 2004-05, from the Union Ministry for Tourism. Minister for Tourism K.C. Venugopal received the awards from Union Minister for Tourism Ambika Soni at a function in New Delhi recently, the press release said. `Kerala Tourism Handbook' provides authentic information on all the quality tourism properties in the State including hotels, resorts, ayurveda centres, houseboats and home stay facilities. International tour operators, business houses and corporate companies recognise this publication as an authentic and valuable material, the press release said. Tourism India Publication is now working on an updated edition of the handbook with more information. More categories of tourism properties such as amusement parks and hospitals (for medical tourism) will find reference in the new edition of the handbook, the company said.
