INTUC seeks allocation of Cassicade seat

It wants Pondy unit president to contest it

Pondicherry: The Pondicherry unit of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) has appealed to the Pradesh Congress Committee to allot the Cassicade Assembly seat to G. Ravichandran, INTUC (Pondicherry) president.

The appeal came in the form of a resolution adopted on Saturday at a meeting of representatives of all affiliated trade unions of the INTUC.

The meeting was held to elect unanimously full fledged team of office bearers.

One of the resolutions thanked all India Congress Committee president Sonia Gandhi and also Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for according full recognition to INTUC and also for enhancing its status by making the national committee president of the INTUC G Sanjeeva Reddy as member of the Rajya Sabha. The meeting also wanted expeditious implementation of the recommendations of the Fourth Pay Committee constituted by the Pondicherry Chief Minister to revise wages and allowances of employees in the cooperative societies and organisations in the Union Territory.

Following is the full team of office bearers of INTUC elected unanimously at the meeting:

G. Ravichandran (president), V.R. Jagannathan, S. Seenuvasan and A. Ravul (vice-presidents), G. Narasingam, K. Durairaj and V. Sokkalingam (general secretaries), A. Ammainathan and P. Gnanasekaran (secretaries), P. Saravanan and S. Muthuraman (oragnising secretaries) and S Kumar (treasurer).

A twenty member executive committee (which has two women representatives) was also constituted.
