BELLARY: The Bellary branch of the Family Planning Association of India (FPAI) on Sunday introduced laparoscope for conducting tubectomy. The Bellary unit is the first among the 42 branches of the FPAI in the country to adopt the new technique for sterlisation and also use the video facility attached to it to educate people, especially women in rural areas, about how the sterlisation process is simple and done easily without much pain to the person undergoing the surgery. B.K. Srinivasmurthy, a leading physician, inaugurated the equipment and a live demonstration was arranged for the benefit of women representing various self-help groups.
