Collector inspects progress of works

Development works at a brisk pace

    SALEM: The Collector, A. Sukumaran inspected the progress of the developmental works and the photographing of voters in Panamarathupatti and the Veerapandi Panchayat Unions here on Friday.

    Progress reviewed

    According to a release, the Collector reviewed the progress of a road laying work taken up from the Nilavarapatti-Tiruchi main road to Jarugumalai foothills in Panamarathupatti Panchayat union at a cost of Rs. 5 lakhs allotted under the Small Savings incentive funds.

    He also saw the concrete roadwork in Arunthathiyar Colony and individual toilets constructed in Nilavarapatti village. He also inspected the Women and Children Sanitary complex in the village.

    At the Gejjalnaickanpatti panchayat, he saw the concrete road laid at a cost of Rs. 1 lakh under the Namathu Gramam scheme. He also visited Ammapalayam, Vazhakuttapatti and Vaniyampadi panchayats and reviewed the progress of various developmental works, which included road works, maintenance of 27 group houses and construction of a parapet wall.

    He also inspected the designated photo locations in Gejjalnaickanpatti, Ammapalayam, Vazhakuttapatti, Ervadi, Vaniyampadi and Sevanthampadi, where the photographing of voters for the issue of Electors' Photo Identity Card was on.

    In the Veerapandi Panchayat Union, Mr. Sukumaran saw the maintenance works in 20 group houses, construction of compound walls and concrete road laying works at the Akkaraipalayam panchayat.

    He also examined the strengthening of a road and kutcha house improvement works in Poolavari panchayat.

    Revenue officials and elected representatives accompanied the Collector. .
