Power cut

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in parts of Kellys, Sowcarpet, Purasaiwalkam, Muthialpet, Chindatripet, Esplanade, Mandaveli, Santhome, Foreshore Estate, Kondithope, R.K. Nagar, V.O.C. Nagar, Korukkupet, Perumbakkam SS, Thirumullaivoyal, Kamaraj Nagar, Ernavoor, Thousand Light, Teynampet and Dasarathapuram between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Seminars on lifestyle medicine

Harvard Medical School and Apollo Hospitals Group are jointly conducting seminars on lifestyle medicine in Kolkata on March 24 and 25, in Chennai on March 27 and 28 and in Mumbai on March 30 and 31. The initiative is aimed at educating health professionals on incorporating lifestyle medicine or treatment of diseases caused by lifestyle choices. Training on meditation

A free two-day training programme on Pranahuti Aided Meditation will be conducted by Institute of Sri Ramachandra Consciousness at IIT Madras, Adyar. The course will be held in English between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on March 25 and 26. Concentration, controlling the mind, spiritual way of life, meditation, Pranahuti and stages of spiritual progress will be covered. Red Ribbon Club inaugurated

A Red Ribbon Club was launched at V. Ramakrishna Polytechnic College, Thiruvottiyur. S. Tandapany, Thiruvallur District field officer from TANSACS, spoke on HIV/AIDS and interacted with students.

Geriatric care workshop

Academy for Career and Vocational Education and Training and JV Hospitals would be conducting a two-day workshop on `Basic First Aid and Geriatric Care' to create health awareness among the public. The workshop is scheduled to be held at 4, 4th Main Road, United India Colony, Kodambakkam, on April 8 and 9. The institutions also offer certificate courses for health care assistants, medical records management and hospital administration of three months duration.

Street children cricket match

The children of Arunodhaya (a centre for street and working children) confronted England's Sports Relief Red Socks team in a cricket match organised here on Tuesday. The England team included former cricketers such as Phil Tufnell and Jack Russell.

The match was held at the Corporation playground in Kannigapuram.

R. Natraj, greater Chennai Police Commissioner distributed the awards. He lauded the BBC Sports Relief team and Arunodhaya for their efforts.

Former West Indian cricketer and coach of the Sports Relief Red Socks team Alwyn Kalicharan asked the children to work towards enhancing their skills and become great cricketers. A BBC crew documented the event and it will be relayed on BBC soon.
