Committed to development of naxal-affected areas: CM

MULKANOOR (KARIMNAGAR DT): Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has said the Government is ready to hold peace talks with naxalites, provided they lay down their weapons.

Talking to newsmen after launching the golden jubilee celebrations of the Mulkanoor cooperative rural bank and marketing society on Sunday, he said the Government was committed to the development of the naxal-affected villages by providing irrigation sources.

He also said that priority would be accorded to provide alternative employment opportunities to the rural youth in the animal husbandry, cattle rearing, sheep rearing, dairy units and pisciculture in the Godavari waters.

Irrigation projects

Women empowerment programme would be taken up on a big scale in the naxalite-affected areas, he said.

On the allegations levelled by the TDP on Sripadasagar project, he said that the TDP was obstructing the development of Telangana. The government was committed to the completion of all irrigation projects in Telangana region, he added.
